How do you site your sources while reading an audiobook?

Here's a little snippet "As cortisol can help keep us alive, it tends to get more space in our systems than dopamine (Brandon, J. 2020)."

I'm hired to read this audiobook but I'm not sure how to read a source, the "(Brandon, J. 2020)". I'm thinking I could say "According to a 2020 Article by Brandon J." but that leaves so much undescribed like what is his credibility? What article is this from?

Does anyone have experience with this? And if so, what did you do?
